About us

Creative Director, Laura Riera, founded THE SANT in 2018 in Barcelona, Spain. The designs are inspired by the mastery of geometry and minimalism through the influence of different artistic movements, specially the Bauhaus school. The designer studies the contrast between tradition and avant-garde and finds the balance through pure lines being an essential pillar of the design aesthetic. THE SANT works with artisans in the south of Spain where master craftsmen transform high quality leather into celebrated and functional bags, striving for the balance of perfection.

With an artistic, avant-garde and timeless approach, THE SANT transfers its designs to master craftsmen, who work with a combination of traditional and modern techniques. Based in the historic family owned ateliers in the south of Spain and with generations of experience they transform the best materials into unique and exclusive handcrafted pieces that will last over time. THE SANT team work very closely with the artisans and consider them part of the brand family.

SUSTAINABILITY

Working with only the best materials and suppliers, the leather comes from Italian tanneries, its never exotic, and is EU Reach certified by the hand of gold rated members in the Leather Working Group (LWG) whose objective is to develop and mantain a protocol that evaluates environmental compliance and corporate practices in terms of sustainability, promoting improvements in the leather industry. The hardware is manufactured entirely in Barcelona by a company positioned as one of the benchmarks in Europe in the manufacture of hardware. One of the most complete companies in the sector, being able to offer all the processes done at home.

ETHICAL PRODUCTION

Responsible production and sustainability are fundamental pillars of the brand. Manufacturing is made entirely in Spain, ensuring an ethical supply chain throughout the production and distribution processes, contributing to expand local industry. Most of the time, the contemporary leather pieces are made of leather in stock with controlled production, meaning the making of the leather pieces doesn’t negatively impact the carbon footprint.
